The National Professional Soccer League of Honduras is the first and highest soccer division in Honduras. The season of the league is divided into Opening (fall) and Closing (spring). A team is relegated to the Liga de Ascenso (the team with the least points in Opening and Closing) and a team is promoted from Liga de Ascenso. The first 4 clubs participate in the play-offs to decide the champion. The winners of the Opening and Closing competitions participate in the CONCACAF Champions League.
